Sensory Planetmobile

We know that travelling to sensory venues can be stressful and frustrating. It can be a logistical challenge too.

Our wealth of experience in using sensory integration techniques has inspired us to create the Sensory Planetmobile.

The Sensory Planetmobile is a one-of-a-kind vehicle that is designed to provide a fully tailored sensory experience. Fitted with ROMPA® equipment, the Sensory Planetmobile provides a safe sensory area to help you to interact with the space around you. The sensory space enables you, your family or your carers, your therapists or your teachers to see what calms you, what rouses your senses, and what you do and don’t like.

You and the people you’re with can change how the sensory space works, from calm and serene to lively and loud. There are lots of touchy-feely bits and bobs (tactile elements) that will change colour, shape, light or sound when you touch them.

Where does the Sensory Planetmobile go?

It travels throughout South Yorkshire and the surrounding areas and can be booked by schools, community groups, care settings and respite facilities. Give us a wave when you see us out and about.

What’s inside the Sensory Planetmobile?

The sensory van has been fitted with an abundance of specialist ROMPA® equipment. We love ROMPA®, they are UK’s leading sensory company and have been designing and installing sensory equipment for decades.

Here’s a list of some of the equipment installed in the Sensory Planetmobile:

Colour Catch Combo

Our Colour Catch Panel fills with colour and light during use and provides exciting visual and auditory rewards for taking part. Matching is an important foundation skill for language and mathematical concepts, whilst being an activity enjoyed by all ages.
Multifinity Explorer™

Create visually stunning infinity effects by selecting from a number of shapes, colours, patterns and speeds. Sound effects and music make for a truly exciting multi-sensory experience. This piece encourages interaction, visual tracking, hand-eye coordination and an understanding of cause and effect.
Rainbow Tube

Visual, vibrating and with a gentle sound and opaque tube. With more than a dozen light effects to choose from, including static primary colours and moving light patterns. Some effects are calming whilst others are stimulating.
LED Projector

The simple changing shapes of colour and gentle patterns require little concentration. This allows the individual to relax without the need to predict or decipher the shapes or patterns of objects.
Fibre Optics

Encourages reach, grip and fine motor function to ‘play’ with strands.
Rainbow Bumpas with Vibration

Vibrant, engaging and interactive. Each panel vibrates when touched.
Laser Sky Projector

Illuminating, twinkling, dazzling, starry spectacle!
Wavy Tactile Panel

A large variety of fluid shapes, raised and recessed areas, as well as contrasting textures, make this contemporary looking panel is as pleasing to the touch as to the eye.

You enter the van through a tail lift or steps at the back – the choice is yours.

The Sensory Planetmobile supports the hidden disability sunflower lanyard scheme which can benefit our visitors who may need additional support during their experience.
